Muriel Gray – returning as chair for Tourism Innovation Day is broadcaster, writer and businesswoman Muriel Gray. Her sharp wit, strong mind and breadth of experience, coupled with a love of the Scottish landscape, make her an ideal anchor for the day’s activities.

Dr. Bettina von Stamm of the globally acclaimed Innovation Leadership Forum, who will kick the day off. Bettina is passionate about understanding innovation and spreads this passion through her many activities as a teacher, author, conference speaker, workshop facilitator and business adviser on managing innovation and creativity in business. She holds a degree in architecture and an MBA from London Business School.

TripAdvisor’s Séverine Philardeau will explain the meteoric rise of TripAdvisor to become the largest travel community in the world, with over 9 million members worldwide and more than 20 million online reviews and opinions - arguably the most influential website in global tourism decision-making. She will outline how TripAdvisor continuously innovates and will also focus on how Scottish tourism businesses can use feedback from the TripAdvisor travel community to drive their own growth and success.

ellis watson

Ellis Watson is a renowned and entertaining business speaker who will share his experience in spreading inspiration and culture change through organisations. Currently Managing Director of Edinburgh-based Menzies Distribution, he has also held top roles in Mirror Newspapers (where he was responsible for five national and 240 regional titles) and Celador International, famous for the enormously successful of TV show Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, which Ellis guided to international prominence, being licensed in more than 100 countries. Prior to this Ellis worked for 10 years for News International, reporting directly to Rupert Murdoch.

Workshops on the day will be hands-on and interactive for all participants and will include “What If?” scenario sessions, led by Edinburgh-based future factory. They will introduce a practical tool which will help participants to identify business innovation opportunities from realistic future tourism scenarios.
